Ke$ha...

What the hell has happened to the music industry in the United States? More importantly, why are people so content with listening to auto tuned trash these days? Case and point Ke$ha. Without a doubt she is the single handedly the dumbest “pop star” that has ever existed. I seriously think she has some sort of brain damage, there is no other explanation for how someone can think that this passes as a song:

She fucking moans and groans the whole time! It sounds like she was choking on a cock the entire time she recorded this song. Even in situations where she has time to prepare herself for softball questions she comes out looking dumb as a freaking post:

I'm hard pressed to recall a time where the phrase shit for brains was more applicable.  Let's not also forget what used to be the bench mark for female talent in the 50's:

What the hell happened?!  How the hell has ke$ha become acceptable in society?!  I'm genuinely concerned that she may be rabid, or possibly the poster child for Ashton Kutcher's greatest Punk'd skit ever with the world being the punkee.

Auto-tune is to the 2000s as that ridiculous drumbeat was to the 1980s. I can't wait until we move past it again...worse than ke$ha, I'm afraid, is stupid Glee, which takes awesome songs and makes them into auto-tuned teeny bop caricatures of themselves, the ideal fate of those Kidz-Sing-Along infomercials...

I haven't heard anything from Glee but i wouldn't expect it to be auto tuned. From what i know about the show the kids actually have talent, which is ok with me

Thoughts on this?

I actually saw that the other day and really liked it. He's an up and coming musician who already has quite the voice and i think it's great. Personally if a "musician" can't perform without the aid of a computer i don't think they deserve the title; that's why acoustic performances are very telling of an artists real talent.

Was that the response you were looking for Kirstin?

I'm actually less opposed to Gaga than I am to ke$ha. Gaga is certainly a guilty pleasure or really-really-trashed-and-somehow-in-a-gay-(or-Eurotrash)-club kind of musician, but she at least has that going for her. Also, as the kid in Kirstin's link states - she's a freak. And she's well aware of it, and everyone around her is well aware of it. Whereas I think ke$ha is trying to legitimate herself...

I couldn't agree more. Gaga is crazy but goes with it, and ke$ha is..well..what i said in the post.

(sorry about the late response, graduation/moving)
I agree with you -- I actually really like the kid which is why I posted the link. It's refreshing to see someone with that much talent starting out so young, but I guess my only fear is that the music industry will take advantage of him and turn him into the next Justin Bieber. Let's keep our fingers crossed...
And I agree with you, Andrew, about the Gaga thing -- if you watch videos of her doing acoustic versions of her songs too, she's actually really talented despite her commercial image. Which I have respect for. Ke$ha is just going for pure trash, I have no idea why people like it...
